Rubber & Polyurethane / Rubber Sheeting

Product Information:

Rubber Sheeting

Rubber jointing has many different uses and is manufactured in a variety of grades. Choosing the right grade of rubber for the job is vital for performance and economy. Below you will find a general guide to the different elastomers available on the market today.

EPDM

Can be compounded to give good - excellent abrasion resistance, ketone resistance excellent resistance to low water absorption, acid resistance and resistance to animal & vegetable oils. Has outstanding reistance to ageing, weathering, ozone & oxygen. It has fairly low gas permeablility. EPDM is not suitable for use with aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, lubricating oil and petrol. Also available WRC approved.

BUTYL

Can be compounded to give very low moisture and gas permeability, high resistance to ozone, weather, abrasion, tear, flexing, heat ageing and chemical attack. Can be used for applications requiring high shock absorption.

NEOPRENE

Excellent acid resistance, good ozone and oxidation resistance, good flame retardants and resistance to lubricating oil and vegetable oils. Not suitable for applications requiring resistance to aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons and ketones.

NITRILE

Excellent resistance to aliphatic hydrocarbons, lubricating oils and petrol. Good abrasion resistance. Not suitable for use with ketones. Chemically known as Acrylonitrile Butadiene Rubber.

FLUOROCARBON (VITON)

Excellent heat and fuel resistance. Very low permeability to gases. Excellent ozone, oxidation and flame resistance. Not suitable for use with ketones and lacquer solvents.

NATURAL

Can be compounded to give high resilience, good tensile strength, high tear strength, good abrasion resistance, excellent low temperture properties, excellent dielectric strength and fair to good resistance in concentrated and dilute acids. Not suitable for use with solvents including aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, lubricating oil and petrol.

SILICONES

Excellent electrical insulation. Resistant to animal and vegetable oils, diluted acids, ozone, water absorption and oxidation. Not suitable for use with aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons.
