WHEELS

NYLON

Nylon wheels are light in weight, clean and able to be used with the minimum of lubrication.  They are virtually non-marking, cause very little floor damagem and are resistant to oils, fats, alkalis, soaps and detergents.  They should not be used in contact with concentrated acids, although some exposure to dilute acids is possible.  All wheels are virgin nylon and in natural white.

RUBBER TYRED NYLON

Rubber bonded to nylon centres giving modern, lightweight but tough rustprooof wheels.  A complementary range to the extra heavy duty rubber tyred cast iron wheels as described below.

PLASTIC

These wheels may be used instead of nylon on good floor surfaces where light loads are to be carried at normal room temperatures and where lowest cost is desired.  Moulded in black polypropylene, they have good chemical resistance and low water absorption.

RUBBER TYRED PLASTIC

An attractive range of wheels that is, in many instances, replacing similar sized light duty wheels of solid rubber and rubber tyred cast iron construction.  They have soft grey rubber tyres and plastic centres.  They are quiet running, floor protecting, hygienic and attractive in appearance.

CAST IRON

Cast Iron wheels combine strength and shock resistance with long life and economy.  They have a very low resistance and are a first choice where ease of movement is required.  Being metallic, they withstand extremes of temperature that would destroy plastic or tyred wheels.  However cast iron wheels can cause floor wear.

RUBBER TYRED CAST IRON

Rubber tyres moulded on cast iron centres under heat and pressure to give a tough durable bond.  Good load capacities combined with silent running, floor saving and the ability to withstand rough service conditions.

POLYURETHANE TYRED CAST IRON

Polyurethane has a high tear strength, exceptional abrasion resistance and up to 10 times the life of natural rubber under similar conditions and load.  With load capacities up to 3 times that of an equivalent rubber wheel, smaller diameters may be used to achieve a similar loading if required.

ANTISTATIC RUBBER TYRED

A special rubber compound, having electrically conductive properties is moulded on to cast iron centres under heat and pressure.  These wheeels conform to BS2099 & BS2050 (table 1 item 13) for hospital use.
